Comedy Genius

Comedy Genius doesn't test your throwing arm, it tests your material. Land on it and you've got one shot: tell a joke, right there at the table, and get somebody to laugh. Pull it off and you're done. Land it flat and you're the one drinking.

At a real table it's the wedge that goes quiet fastest. Someone always reaches for the one joke they've told forty times before, delivered with far too much confidence for how old it is. Sometimes it lands purely because everyone's already a couple of drinks in and would laugh at a shopping list read aloud. Sometimes it's met with the kind of silence that makes the thrower visibly age.

The honest tactic is to read the room rather than raid a joke book. A dig at whoever's sitting next to you, or something that's already an in-joke from earlier in the night, beats any line you half-remember from school. And don't be the mate who laughs at absolutely everything out of pity — it defeats the whole point of the wedge.

It's one of the 3rd Circle's genuine wedges, sitting among a ring padded out with repeated Kings Cup fillers, so when it does come round it usually catches someone who hasn't thought about their material in advance — which is exactly when it's funniest.
