Task Master: Somebodys Getting Bossed Around
“Choose someone to complete a challenge. If they decline, they take a shot. If they accept and fail, they drink half their drink. If they succeed, everyone drinks!🤔”
Task Master hands the thrower a strange bit of power: pick anyone at the table and set them a challenge. What that challenge actually is gets decided on the spot, by whoever's holding the dart, which is exactly why this wedge gets tense. Three ways it can go: they wave it off for a shot, have a go and flop for half a drink, or actually pull it off and put the whole table on the hook for a round.
At a real table the fun is in the choosing. The thrower usually goes for whoever's most likely to make a fool of themselves, or the quiet one who's been coasting all night and needs winding up. Then comes the haggling — what counts as "succeeding," whether a wobbly second attempt still counts, who gets the final say. Someone always disputes the ruling.
The honest play is setting something genuinely doable rather than a stunt. A challenge nobody could ever complete just buys a free half-drink, and a table forced to down theirs on a technicality won't forget it in a hurry. The real skill is a task that's hard enough to be funny and easy enough to actually land — that's when everyone drinks together instead of one person getting stitched up on their own.
Task Master sits out on the 4th Circle, the board's outer band, one name among twenty with no repeats — so when it does come up, it lands rarely enough that nobody in the room is ever quite ready for it.
18+ on the Party side. Every forfeit swaps for a sip or a dare, and the pub-safe Social side skips the booze entirely.
