Two-Player Drinking Games

Most drinking games assume a full table. These are built for two — a date night, a flatmate catch-up, or just the pair of you and a bottle of wine.

Players

Exactly 2

You'll need

Varies by game — a deck of cards, dice, or a dartboard, depending which you pick

How to play

  1. 121 Questions — take turns asking anything; dodge a question and you drink.
  2. 2Never Have I Ever — say something you've never done; if the other person has, they drink. Works just as well with two as with a group.
  3. 3Categories, head-to-head — pick a category, alternate naming items until someone's stuck; they drink.
  4. 4DartUp's Beer Darts mode — throw once each for your number, then spend the game trying to land on theirs.
  5. 5301 darts, with a drink for a miss — straightforward scoring, loser buys the next round.
  6. 6Ride the Bus, two-player variant — deal cards face-down, guess higher, lower, or same; guess wrong and you drink.

Tips

  • Agree the stakes before you start — a two-player game moves faster than a group one, so the drinks add up quicker too.
  • Keep a jug of water on the table. It's easy to lose track when it's just the two of you keeping score.
  • Pick a game that suits the mood — 21 Questions if you want to talk, darts if you'd rather not just sit there.

Keep the night going

DartUp's Beer Darts and Normal modes both work fine 1v1 — you don't need a full table to get a game going.
